Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 17, 2026
LIVE Teams is operated by Live Inc., a corporation based in St. Catharines, Ontario, Canada ("Live Inc.", "LIVE Teams", "we", "us", or "our"). LIVE Teams provides a mobile and web application that helps sports teams, clubs, nonprofits, tour operators and other organizations manage members, registrations and bookings, schedule events, share photos and posts, chat and track attendance. LIVE Teams also sends email and text-message updates to those organizations' members on the organizations' behalf. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you use LIVE Teams, including when an organization that uses LIVE Teams collects your information through its own website or forms, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices and rights you have. By using LIVE Teams, you agree to the practices described here.
1. Information We Collect
Account and profile information
When you create an account we collect your name and a profile photo (if you add one), and any other details you choose to add to your profile, such as a team or jersey role.
Phone number (authentication)
LIVE Teams uses phone-number sign-in. We collect your phone number to send a one-time verification code and to identify your account. Your phone number may also be used to recognize invitations sent to that number.
Mobile number for text messages
When you agree to receive text messages from an organization that uses LIVE Teams by ticking the box on its registration, booking or event form, we record:
- the mobile number the texts go to: the number you entered on the form or, on a booking form without a mobile-number field, the number you signed in with;
- the date and time of your consent;
- the form and form submission you ticked the box on, and the version of the consent wording you were shown;
- your LIVE Teams account, if you were signed in;
- a coded identifier made from your IP address or, if you were signed in, your account ID. We do not store the IP address itself, and we use this identifier only to limit abuse of the sign-up box.
We also keep:
- the texts we send you and whether they went out;
- every text you send to the program's number, including STOP, START and HELP;
- the dates of any opt-out, re-subscription or later tick of the box.
We use this information to send the text messages described in Section 5a, to honor your opt-out, to keep proof of your consent and to prevent abuse. We also use it so that the organization's staff can read and answer your texts. Staff see your texts, matched to the organization's own record of you, and whether you have agreed to receive texts.
Contacts (for inviting people)
If you choose to invite teammates, you may grant access to your device contacts so you can select people to invite. We use the contacts you select only to send or attribute invitations. We do not upload your entire address book to build a marketing database.
Camera and photos
With your permission, LIVE Teams accesses your camera and photo library so you can set a profile or team avatar and share photos in game posts and team feeds. Photos you choose to upload are stored so they can be shown to members of your team or organization.
Location
With your permission, LIVE Teams may use approximate or precise location to help set and display event locations, show venues on a map, and provide directions. You can decline or revoke location access in your device settings; some location-based convenience features may then be limited.
Content you create
We collect the content you submit through the app, including chat messages, posts, comments, event details, RSVPs and attendance responses, and documents you share with your team or organization.
Health and medical information in waivers and forms
Some teams and organizations ask you to complete a waiver, medical release or registration form before you take part. If a form asks for it, that form may contain health information such as allergies, current medications, medical conditions, an emergency contact, a physician's name and phone number, and insurance details. You choose whether to complete these forms; they are requested by your team or organization, not by us.
A completed form is stored with the team or organization that requested it, and is visible to the coaches, managers and organizers of that team, and to anyone in the conversation where the form was requested. Please share only what the form actually asks for, and note that we do not use health information for any purpose other than delivering it to the team you submitted it to.
Usage and device data
We collect basic technical information needed to operate the service, such as device type, operating system, app version, log and diagnostic data, and how you interact with features. This helps us keep the app reliable and secure.
2. How We Use Your Information
- To create and maintain your account and authenticate you via your phone number.
- To provide core features: rosters, scheduling, event locations, chat, posts, photos, RSVPs and attendance.
- To let you invite teammates and to deliver and attribute those invitations.
- To send service messages and notifications, including push notifications, emails and text messages (for example, event reminders, booking confirmations and payment reminders); text messages are sent only as described in Section 5a.
- To keep the service secure, prevent abuse, debug problems, and improve features.
- To comply with legal obligations.
3. Service Providers (Processors)
We use trusted third-party providers to operate LIVE Teams. They process data on our behalf so we can run the service:
| Provider | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Google Firebase Authentication | Phone-number sign-in and account identity |
| Google Cloud Firestore | Stores app data such as profiles, teams, events, messages, RSVPs |
| Google Firebase Storage | Stores uploaded photos and shared files |
| Google Firebase Cloud Messaging | Delivers push notifications |
| Twilio (United States) | Sends the text messages (SMS) described in Section 5a and receives the texts you send to the program's number |
| Google Maps | Displays maps, venues, and directions for event locations |
These providers handle data under their own terms and security practices.
4. Meta Platform Data (Instagram, Messenger and WhatsApp)
Where a business we operate connects its own Instagram professional account, Facebook Page or WhatsApp Business account to LIVE Teams, we receive a limited amount of data from Meta so that we can read and reply to messages sent to that business. Meta refers to this as Platform Data.
| What we receive | Why |
|---|---|
| Instagram-scoped user ID (IGSID) or Page-scoped ID of the person messaging | To identify the conversation thread and send the reply back to the right person |
| Message content sent to the business, and public comments on its posts | To answer the question that was asked |
| Username or display name, where Meta provides it | To show a readable name in the business inbox |
| Instagram/Page account ID and access token of the connected business | To send replies on that business's behalf |
| WhatsApp phone number ID and business account ID | To send booking confirmations, reminders and replies |
How we use it. Only to operate the messaging feature for that business: replying to enquiries, sending booking confirmations and reminders, and showing the conversation to that business's own staff. We do not use Platform Data for advertising, we do not sell it, we do not share it with other businesses on our platform, and we do not use it to build profiles of people across businesses.
Where it is stored. In Google Cloud Firestore (United States), as described in section 3. Access tokens are encrypted at rest and are never exposed to a browser.
How long we keep it. Messages and conversation records are kept for as long as the business keeps its account with us, and are deleted within 30 days of that business disconnecting its Meta account or closing its account with us.
How to have it deleted. A person who has messaged one of these businesses may request deletion of their messages and identifiers by emailing support@liveteams.co; we action such requests within 30 days. A connected business can revoke our access at any time from its own Meta Business settings or Instagram app settings, which immediately stops any further data being received.
5. We Do Not Sell Your Data
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for their own advertising. We share information only with the service providers listed above, with the team or organization members you choose to share content with, and where required by law.
No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Information sharing to subcontractors in support services, such as customer service, is permitted. All the above categories exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties. We do not sell or share your SMS opt-in data or personal information with third parties for marketing purposes. We never sell or rent mobile numbers or text-messaging consent. This applies to Live Inc. (LIVE Teams) and to every organization on whose behalf we send text messages: our Terms of Service (Section 6a) do not allow an organization that uses LIVE Teams to sell or rent them, or to share them with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes.
5a. Text Messages (SMS)
- Who sends the messages. Our text-message program, LIVE Teams registration and booking texts (the "program"), is run by Live Inc. (LIVE Teams). Live Inc. sends each message on behalf of the organization you registered or booked with. Every message we send under the program starts with "LIVE Teams for [organization name]:". Live Inc. is the registered sender of these messages. Your consent covers only texts on behalf of the organization whose form you ticked the box on. We never use it to text you on behalf of any other organization.
- How you opt in. The organization's registration, booking or event form has an unchecked box that states what you are agreeing to.
- Where the box is. Directly beneath the mobile-number field. On a booking form that has no mobile-number field, it is above the Continue button and says that texts go to the mobile number you signed in with.
- Ticking is optional. You opt in only by ticking the box. The form can be submitted without it, and consent to receive text messages is not a condition of any purchase or registration.
- Confirmation. We then send you one text confirming your subscription, normally within minutes. No other text is sent to you before it, except a reply from the organization's staff to a text you sent them first.
- What we send. Event and session reminders (for example, the start time of a scheduled Zoom session), booking confirmations, payment reminders, departure and travel information, and replies from the organization's staff to texts you send to the program's number. Some are sent automatically; others are written by the organization's staff. We do not send marketing or promotional text messages under this program, and organizations may not use it for them.
- Frequency and cost. Message frequency varies. Msg & data rates may apply. Live Inc. and the organization do not charge for these messages; your mobile carrier's normal rates apply.
- Sign-in codes. Our sign-in provider, Google Firebase Authentication, sends the one-time code you receive when you sign in with your phone number. That code is not part of this program, and signing in does not sign you up for these messages.
- Opt out and help.
- Stop: Reply STOP to any message to stop receiving them. You will receive one confirmation and no further messages.
- Resubscribe: Reply START. If you replied STOP before, ticking the box on a form again does not restart messages; only START does.
- Help: Reply HELP, or contact Live Inc. (LIVE Teams) at support@liveteams.co.
- Opting out does not affect your registration, booking or account.
- Carriers are not liable for any delayed or undelivered messages.
6. Data Retention
We keep your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service. When you delete your account, we delete or de-identify your personal information within a reasonable period, except where we must retain certain data to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, or enforce our agreements. Content you shared with a team (for example, group messages) may remain visible to that team even after you leave or delete your account.
Text-message records (your consent, any opt-out, and the texts exchanged with you) are kept for as long as they are needed as proof of your consent and of your opt-out. They are held for the organization on whose behalf we text you, not in your LIVE Teams account, so deleting a LIVE Teams account does not remove them. You can ask us to delete them at support@liveteams.co. If you had opted out, we keep your mobile number and the fact that you opted out, so that you are not texted again under this program.
7. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit and access controls provided by our cloud infrastructure. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Deleting Your Account
You can delete your account at any time from within the app: Settings → Delete account. Deleting your account removes your profile and associated personal data, subject to the retention notes in Section 6. If you are unable to access the app, you may request deletion by emailing support@liveteams.co from the phone number or account email associated with your account.
9. Children and Youth Sports
LIVE Teams is designed for use by sports teams and clubs, including youth teams. The app is intended to be set up and managed by adults — coaches, organizers, and parents or guardians. Where minors participate, a parent, guardian, or responsible adult is expected to manage the minor's participation, account, and the information shared about them. If you believe a minor has provided us information without appropriate adult involvement, please contact us so we can address it.
10. Your Rights and Choices
- Access, update, or correct your profile information from within the app.
- Control device permissions (contacts, camera, photos, location, notifications) in your device settings.
- Delete your account as described in Section 8.
- Request a copy of, or deletion of, your personal information by contacting us.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under applicable privacy laws. We will honor valid requests as required by law.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, provide additional notice.
12. Contact Us
If you have questions about this Privacy Policy, your data or our text messages, contact Live Inc. (LIVE Teams), St. Catharines, Ontario, Canada, at support@liveteams.co.
